THE GRAY MAN....action thriller that's worth the time. Russo Brothers are masters at staging fights. A decade ago few were as compelling. Ryan Gosling is the lead while Chris Evans the bad bad villiian, Both do a good job with understated and dry wit. The Russo's run a risk in an audience environment of a Mission Impossible, specticle, and John Wick 4, but they pull it off imho Even a touch of Bourne movies with stops all over the world. A ton of money was spent & it's there on the screen.
Then EXTRACTION 2. I didn't see #1 but doesn't seem necessary. It probably explains the relationship between the striking Persan gal and Hero Chris Hemsworth which is important but not romantic. No magic stuff here, just impossible stunts. Chris gets to act a bit in this one, since he's not a demi-god.. I did Not expect much but it worked out well.
The urban crime mysterry . was 21 BRIDGES. Russo Brothers were listed as producers. Dramatic musical score. It begins at a funeral for a unique cop. We are directed to his son who suffers the loss.. The story takes up 17 years later when this kid is a Cop himself. The adult in the role was compelling and I thought Who is this guy? I had heard of Chadwick Boseman but never knew what the fuss was about. Here I got to see him . His actual death is a very realll loss for movie fans. The cast was the strength of the film. Taylor Kitch and Stephen James are very good. Some know Taylor already while James, as the ambivalent gunman has a movie future. JK Simmons as an irate cop is perfect as usual. (His Academy Award for Whiplash is a MUST see)
